Fakhar Zaman a former sailor of Pakistan Navy and now plays for Pakistan National team. Fakhar also plays for Lahore Qalandars in Pakistan super league. His teammates call him Fauji (soldier).
In April 1990 Fakahr Zaman was born on a small town of Katlang, District Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After completion of Matriculation Fakhar moved to Karachi when he was merely 16 years old.
After completion of his schooling at Pakistan Navy school, he joined Pakistan Navy as a sailor in 2007. He was forced by his father to join Pakistan Navy School due to his dedication to Cricket.
During his time in Karachi Fakhar continued to play inter-departmental matches. Fakhar also represented Pakistan Navy team at domestic level cricket.
Fakhar talent was first recognized by his navy team coach Azam Khan. Coach told him to pursue professional cricket envisioning his skills in the Game.
Fakhar Zaman left his career as a sailor in 2013 to fulfill his dream to play international cricket. Fakhar kept on appearing in the regional teams of KPK, Abbottabad Falcons, and several others regional teams.
Fakhar was the second highest run scorer in 2016 Pakistan Cup and his performance in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy impressed selectors. In 2017 Pakistan super league he was picked by Lahore Qalendars team under the captaincy of Brendon McCullum.
Pakistan National team Coach Mickey Arthur picked Fakhar for the National Team training camp impressed by his performance in Pakistan Super League.
In the final of Champions trophy, Fakhar Zaman starred by scoring his first international century against the arch-rivals India.
Fakhar’s Ton helped Pakistan to post a big total against India which eventually resulted in the victory of Pakistan Team and also won him a Man of the Match Award in the finals.
Recently on his tour to Zimbabwe, he scored 210 runs not out for his team and broke the international record of highest opening partnership scoring 308 runs accompanied by Imam-ul-Haq.
Fakhar is also the first Pakistani player to score the double century on ODI international.
