Is TikTok ruining our generation?

TikTok is a popular social media app where you can post a minute clip, lip-syncing, dancing, or singing. some people even indulge in POVs (point of view) which is reenacting out scenes from movies or creating their own. Unfortunately, in Pakistan, they have taken this concept and milked it in the worst way possible. Pakistanis trademark is to be walking in slow motion and also crying which isn’t very creative.

Although this app is bringing attention to certain issues and people from different fields such as doctors and nutritionists exist on the app giving helpful advice, most are doing useless stuff. rather than taking up a skill or learning something new. The app is doing very well, installed by many people, and used by almost everyone. Every other person is uploading some crazy videos and trying to get famous. An example of this is a young man is accused of terrorizing his neighbors with the single-minded goal of becoming famous on TikTok. Video shows 18-year-old Zachary Latham, a New Jersey National Guardsman, went viral after posting videos of him harassing his neighbors, the Durham family – taunting and harassing them. When husband Timmy Durham went to confront Latham, saying he nearly ran one of their kids over, the exchange allegedly ended with Latham stabbing 52-year-old Timmy to death.

In Pakistan Leading local TikToker Jannat Mirza (22) has also claimed her fame by posting slow-motion videos and not doing much. She seems to have gathered a huge following who Now idolize her. The sad truth is there is nothing to idolize about a dropout who posts videos on the daily and spreads wrong information to her followers. For example, the interview has done where she stated her grandfather brought to light in Faisalabad…. what?!

This platform is not to be taken lightly as it has a huge impact on young minds and can influence the new generation into making bad decisions.
